Sunflowers For Fall

This design shows off a nice silver tone pewter sunflower; there is great detail in the pendant with the petals and center seeds, you can almost make out the yellow colors! The necklace is then crafted of citrine yellow colored faceted gradated rondelle crystals, green magnesite disks and silver tone pewter wonky disks.

Magnesite is white to yellowish and is usually found on the market today died such colors as purple, pink, green, teal, red, and turquoise. Magnesite is a great alternative for turquoise since it looks almost like it when died. However, it’s of a different mineral make-up but mined in the some of the same areas. Magnesite originates primarily from the weathering of rocks containing magnesium, for instance serpentine, in which it forms dense fine-grained pieces of debris. It is also formed by the metasomatic replacement of dolomite or as crystalline inclusions occurring in the regional metmorphosis of lime.

Magnesite was first discovered in Africa. In African cultures it is perceived as a fertility stone, while in ancient Egypt it was believed to be a lucky talisman.

It is said that its healing properties are good to stimulate the metabolism and lowers cholesterol. In addition, it has very relaxing properties so that it is highly effective in the treatment of headaches, migraines and stomach and intestinal cramps.

The white color of magnesite symbolizes purity and freedom; it is said in legend to protect the wearer against false love, false friends and intrigues.
